Staff Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer with substantial breadth and depth in developing scalable web applications. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic, startup environments where ambiguity and autonomy are commonplace. You will join a small, agile engineering team focused on rapidly delivering impactful solutions directly to our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy robust, scalable web applications using modern frameworks and technologies.
• Independently translate ambiguous business needs into clear technical requirements.
• Architect and implement microservices, leveraging best practices in distributed messaging and event-driven architectures.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance optimization using various AWS services.
• Develop and maintain SQL and NoSQL data solutions, leveraging databases such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and ElasticSearch.
• Collaborate directly with cross-functional teams and proactively address technical and business challenges.
• Rapidly iterate and deliver customer-centric solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Contribute to front-end development using React when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Significant professional experience developing web applications with Python, ideally using FastAPI or Flask. Familiarity with serverless frameworks is highly beneficial.
• Proven track record designing and implementing microservices architectures.
• Deep understanding and practical experience with AWS, including familiarity with distributed messaging services and scalable infrastructure solutions.
• Proficient in SQL and NoSQL databases, with substantial experience in database schema design, optimization, and maintenance.
• Expert-level skills in ElasticSearch will be highly beneficial.
• Strong familiarity with data validation frameworks, particularly Pydantic.
• Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, or Pulumi is highly beneficial.
• Demonstrable experience building scalable web applications end-to-end, including some front-end development with React.
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in startup environments characterized by rapid pace, ambiguity, and frequent pivots.
• Self-starter with a proactive, customer-focused mindset, capable of independently navigating complex problems.
• Familiarity and proactive engagement with emerging AI tools (e.g., Cursor, Devin.AI) is expected as a significant part of daily workflow.
