: Job Title Dual Credit Advisor Department LEVL - Continuing Education Employment Status FT Full-Time Full Time/Part Time Full Time Benefits Yes Months per Year 12 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with colleagues in the Office of Dual Credit and Early College Programs to process dual credit application materials and enroll students at the beginning of each semester.
  • Provide academic advising to dual credit students via phone, email, distance education tools, and through in-person meetings to clarify educational, career, and life goals.
  • Evaluate and monitor student progress in the context of the student's academic plan, by holding regular meetings with students and maintaining constant communication with high school counselors.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the institution's academic programs, curriculum, and practices including the use of transfer guides, articulation agreements, in addition to general academic and student policies.
  • Work collaboratively with college staff and high school partners to implement and improve advising practices.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with campus colleagues (e.g. Academic departments, New Student Relations, Advising and Testing, Financial Aid, and the Office of Admission and Records) to offer programming which help students work through their academic, career, and personal goals.
  • Work with campus colleagues and high school counselors to promote career and technical education (CTE) dual credit coursework and workforce opportunities.
  • Assist with dual credit student outreach at area high schools - College Information nights, Financial Aid nights, Dual Credit Orientation activities, etc.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities and professional organizations.
  • Maintain academic advising records in compliance with the College and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Some travel should be expected.

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a high school and/or a higher education environment.
  • Community College experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively within an ethnic, cultural and socially diverse student population.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects in a fast paced environment independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding and support of community colleges.
  • A professional and positive attitude towards their work, the mission of the institution, and the goals of the College.
  • Adaptability, strong critical judgment, the ability to think “outside the box,” a commitment to teamwork, and providing quality service are characteristics required for success.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents including invoices and monthly reports. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, parents, faculty, staff and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to interpret and understand mathematical relationships. REASONING ABILITY Ability to calculate figures and amounts and develop statistical information. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
