Software Engineer III - Mobile

Yotta Energy is seeking a mid-level to senior Software Engineer III to lead development of our first mobile commissioning app for the Yotta Block battery system. This is a high-impact role where you will architect and build a new mobile application from the ground up, shaping both the product and the mobile technology direction at Yotta. You’ll join a fast-moving startup that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and hands-on problem-solving.

In this position, you will work closely with backend and hardware engineers to create a seamless user experience for device commissioning and field operations. You’ll define mobile best practices, drive technical decision-making, and ensure the app integrates smoothly with our APIs and hardware systems. What You’ll Do

• Architect, develop, and launch a cross-platform React Native mobile application with PWA support for device commissioning.
• Collaborate with backend and hardware engineers to ensure reliable integration with APIs and devices.
• Establish best practices for mobile development, testing, and release workflows.
• Participate in feature planning, technical design discussions, and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mobile, networking, and device-related issues.

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years with React Native or similar cross-platform frameworks.
• Experience building and launching mobile apps from scratch.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern mobile development patterns.
• Experience working with APIs and debugging network/device communication.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Bonus: Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
• Bonus: Experience in the energy industry, IoT, or device commissioning.
• Bonus: Full-stack skills or willingness to work across the stack when needed.
• Salary – Up to $115,000/yr. DOE
