Grounds Keeper - Weekday

Traders Village Houston is seeking a Grounds Keeper to support weekday operations. This position is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and functionality of the flea market grounds, while also assisting with light maintenance tasks and operational support as needed.

This role works closely with the Operations Manager and maintenance team to ensure the property remains clean, safe, and ready for both daily business and special events. In addition to routine groundskeeping duties, this position may assist with event setup, breakdown, and general maintenance support especially in preparation for weekend activities.

This is a Monday–Friday position , approximately 39 hours per week , working 8-hour shifts per day .
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver’s license .

Traders Village is the largest flea market on the Gulf Coast , located at 7979 N. Eldridge Pkwy, Houston, TX 77041 .

Responsibilities

• Perform daily grounds cleanup throughout the flea market property
• Collect and manage trash from vendor areas, walkways, food stands, and common areas
• Empty trash cans and transport trash, cardboard, and debris to dumpsters or compactors
• Operate equipment such as tractors, golf carts, and forklifts (when trained and assigned)
• Walk assigned sections of the market to ensure cleanliness is maintained throughout the day
• Assist with light maintenance tasks as directed by the Operations Manager or maintenance team
• Support event setup and breakdown , including moving equipment, clearing expo spaces, and preparing areas for weekend activities
• Assist with additional tasks such as sweeping debris, squeegeeing water, or general property upkeep
• Maintain a clean, safe, and presentable appearance of the property
• Work independently or as part of a team while coordinating with Operations and maintenance staff

Qualifications

• Previous experience in groundskeeping, custodial, maintenance, warehouse, or equipment operation is a plus
• Forklift experience or certification is a plus but not required
• Ability to work independently or in a team with minimal supervision
• Strong work ethic and attention to cleanliness, safety, and organization
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus but not required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
• Ability to bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 40–50 pounds
• Ability to safely operate assigned equipment
