Responsibilities
- Provide direct obstetric nursing care to mothers and newborns from prepartum through postpartum
- Monitor maternal status, fetal well-being, labor progression, and administer medications per protocol; assist with labor and delivery
- Perform neonatal assessments and routine newborn care; support feeding, bonding, and discharge planning
- Educate patients and families on pregnancy, birth plans, postpartum recovery, and newborn care
- Document all care accurately in the medical record; collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and the neonatal team
- When OB census is low, provide appropriate care on the Med/Surg unit per unit policy

Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license with eligibility to practice in Texas
- OB/L&D experience preferred; ability to care for mothers and babies across pre- to postpartum periods
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts on a 3x12 schedule (7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.)
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and documentation skills
- Willingness to float to Med/Surg when OB census is low and to adapt to unit needs
- Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital setting
