Estimator (Facilities)
WHC LLC (A Surerus Murphy Company) (WHC), is seeking to recruit an Estimator. The Estimator supports the estimating and preconstruction team in preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for facilities and energy-related construction projects. This role is designed for an early-career professional who is developing estimating skills, gaining exposure to construction cost controls, and learning WHC Energy Services’ estimating standards, systems, and project execution practices. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Estimating Support
- Assist with quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
- Support development of labor, material, and equipment cost estimates under the guidance of a Senior Estimator.
- Input and maintain estimate data in estimating software and spreadsheets.
- Help assemble bid packages, backup documentation, and cost summaries.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and internal estimate reviews as assigned.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to request pricing and scope information.
- Track subcontractor bids and assist with bid tabulation.
- Maintain organized estimate files and documentation for review and audit purposes.
- Assist with historical cost data collection and benchmarking.
- Support post-bid and post-project cost analysis to improve future estimates.
- Work closely with Senior Estimators, Project Managers, Procurement, and Operations teams.
- Assist with scope clarification and handoff documentation after award.
- Support change order pricing and estimate revisions as needed.
- Learn and follow WHC Energy Services’ estimating standards, procedures, and safety culture.
- Participate in training on estimating tools, construction methods, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrate continuous improvement in estimating accuracy, organization, and communication.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 0–3 years of construction or estimating-related experience
- Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
This position in The Woodlands, TX office . Travel to project sites is/may be required. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
