About the Position

The company is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller / Property Controller to join its corporate accounting team in Dallas, Texas .

Reporting directly to both the Controller and Managing Director , this position will provide leadership for a team of Senior Accountants while helping oversee the financial reporting and accounting operations supporting the company's growing real estate portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist in managing the day-to-day accounting operations for a growing real estate portfolio.
• Supervise and mentor a team of 3–4 Senior Accountants , ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and professional development.
• Review financial statements, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and audit activities.
• Partner with executive leadership to provide timely financial analysis and operational insights.
• Help improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and internal controls as the company continues to grow.
• Collaborate across departments to support acquisitions, development projects, and ongoing portfolio management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation is preferred but not required.
• Previous leadership experience managing accounting staff, including 3–5 years supervising a team .
• Experience within real estate, construction, property management, investment, or development accounting is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience overseeing month-end close and financial statement preparation.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

• Base Salary: $110,000–$150,000
