Core Responsibilities

Social Media Management & Content Strategy

• Develop and implement a strategic, mission-aligned social media plan that raises awareness about domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, as well as promoting available service, capital campaigns, and agency events.

• Create and schedule content across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube) that is trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally responsive.

• Highlight the agencies involvement in community events, as well as partner agencies and sponsors involvement in the agencies events in a timely and appropriate manner, following agency protocols..

• Ensure all messaging reflects empowerment, safety, and respect for survivor autonomy.

• Monitor and respond to comments and messages in a timely, appropriate, and supportive manner, following agency protocols.

• Track analytics and engagement metrics to evaluate effectiveness and adjust strategies accordingly.

• Maintain a consistent 7-days a week posting schedule, including awareness months, campaigns, and community events.

Public Education & Community Outreach

• Work with the Community Relations Department to plan, coordinate, and facilitate educational presentations on topics such as:

o Domestic Violence

o Sexual Assault

o Teen Dating Violence

o Agency Presentation

o Human Trafficking

• Adapt presentations for diverse audiences (youth, schools, professionals, community groups) using age-appropriate and trauma-informed approaches.

• Represent the organization at community events, health fairs, and outreach opportunities.

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, community partners, and stakeholders.

Campaign Development & Awareness Initiatives

• Lead or support awareness campaigns (e.g., Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month).

• Develop creative and engaging content such as graphics, videos, survivor-centered messaging, and calls to action.

• Collaborate with internal departments to highlight programs, services, and success stories (while maintaining confidentiality).

• Assist in promoting fundraising events, volunteer opportunities, and agency initiatives.

Collaboration & Internal Communication

• Work closely with Community Relations, Residential, Non-Residential & Sexual Assault, Prevention, and Advocacy staff to ensure accurate representation of services through social media, presentations, handouts, and brochures.

• Communicate regularly with supervisors and relevant team members to align messaging and avoid misinformation.

• Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and cross-department collaboration, as needed.

Ethical Standards & Confidentiality

• Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and survivor information.

• Follow all agency policies, grant requirements, and ethical guidelines related to communication and public education.

• Ensure all shared stories or testimonials are properly consented to and de-identified.

Administrative & Organizational Support

• Maintain a calendar of social media content, outreach events, and speaking engagements that is shared with agency leadership.

• Document outreach efforts, presentations, and engagement data for reporting purposes (grant reporting, internal tracking, etc.).

• Assist Community Relations Director with creation of educational materials, brochures, and digital resources.

Training & Professional Development Requirements

To ensure staff are prepared to respond appropriately and safely in crisis-related situations all staff are expected to complete required, specialized training and maintain on-going professional development.

• Domestic Violence Advocacy Training, including history, dynamics, and power and control frameworks

• Trauma-Informed Care & Crisis Response Training

• Confidentiality & Ethical Communication Training

• CPR/First Aid Certification

Specialized & Continuing Education

• Cultural Awareness & Cultural Humility Training to support inclusive and equitable outreach

• ELL (English Language Learner) / Language Access Training to improve communication with diverse populations

• Prevention Education & Public Speaking Training

• Human Trafficking Awareness

• Ongoing professional development related to:

o Survivor-centered communication

o Digital advocacy and ethical storytelling

o Community engagement strategies

Knowledge of Laws, Regulations, & Grant Compliance

• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, as well as grant requirements, to ensure all outreach, education, and communication efforts are accurate, ethical, and compliant.

• Ensure all public-facing content and presentations provide accurate, current, and non-misleading information about legal rights and options.

• Maintain working knowledge of requirements tied to funding sources that support the organization’s services and outreach efforts, which may include:

o Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) funding, Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) funding, or State-administered grants related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

• Ensure that outreach materials, social media content, and public education efforts align with allowable activities, required language, and reporting expectations associated with these funding sources.

• Support accurate tracking and documentation of outreach activities, presentations, and community engagement for grant reporting purposes.

• Collaborate with leadership and compliance staff to ensure messaging and activities remain aligned with funding guidelines.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault dynamics

• Experience with trauma-informed care principles

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with social media platforms and analytics tools

• Public speaking and facilitation experience

• Ability to engage diverse audiences with sensitivity and professionalism
