Job Summary CenterPoint Energy is looking for an GIS System Administration Manager to join our CEHE GIS Technical Support Team , located in Houston, TX or Evansville, IN . You will have the ability to: manage group that provides enterprise hardware architecture for GIS infrastructure, ESRI ArcGIS enterprise administration, and Windows server system administration. Responsible for determining user and system demands and planning and monitoring work involved in providing reliable and efficient delivery of GIS services and applications. Evaluates system status and resource utilization and implements changes to improve efficiency, reliability, and disaster recovery Essential Functions

• Develop GIS Architecture drawings and model future systems based upon ESROI standards.
• Manage software releases and hardware upgrades based upon client schedules and needs.
• Generate a request for hardware requirements based on the user's needs and other constraints such as cost and schedule.
• Perform cost-benefit analyses to determine the best methods or approaches for meeting the hardware requirements; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or already developed components.
• Continually maintain and monitor file system backups.
• Provide consultation, training, and resolutions for database management issues.

Essential Functions Continued

• Support operational environment for enterprise database management systems including evaluation, installation, and maintenance of products to support this environment.
• Ensure ESRI application services are available and functioning through monitoring and maintaining services; troubleshoot and resolve ESRI application service issues.
• Provide optimization and tuning support for GIS applications to maximize performance.
• Research and ensure timely installation of critical application security updates.
• Provide technical support for both planned and unplanned application maintenance.
• Perform capacity planning and application benchmarking; monitor daily logs and log-space allocations, CPU, and memory usage.
• Establish, maintain, and enforce standards, procedures and guidelines for usage and techniques.
• Maintain knowledge of software upgrades, enhancements, and known software issues and resolutions as well as latest technology trends and how they can be applied at CenterPoint Energy.
• Anticipate, coordinate, and respond to requests for changes.
• Maintain all vendor software licensing.
• Prepare project status reports and keeps management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues.
• Confer with personnel across the company to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
• Build and maintain a relationship with the Information Technology department at CenterPoint Energy and understand the standards and practices to ensure compliance.

Education Description

• Requires a bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.

Experience

• Requires seven (7) years of experience as hardware solution architect.

A bonus to have

• Experience supporting ESRI ArcGIS Server/Portal 10.x and/or ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise 10.
• Experience using Oracle Spatial Database.
