As an Nurse Director of Surgery or Operating Room Nurse Director, this healthcare organization offers the kind of platform leaders crave: mission-driven, patient-first care with measurable outcomes, a strong reputation for clinical excellence and safety, recent positive media momentum that underscores brand trust, and an award-winning culture that feels Magnet-style in spirit with shared governance, evidence-based practice resources, and robust clinician wellbeing investments.

Focused on the operating room and inpatient surgery setting, the Nurse Director of Surgery will lead a high-impact leadership role within a boutique hospital featuring a high-efficiency peri-operative program. You’ll oversee a streamlined OR environment focused on orthopedics, spine, and advanced surgical procedures, with strong physician partnership and a reputation for operational excellence and patient satisfaction. This role offers significant autonomy, visible leadership influence, and the opportunity to build high-performing teams within a well-supported system.

In the Surgery environment—synonymous with surgical services, operating room, OR, and inpatient operating room—the Nurse Director of Surgery will find an ecosystem built for growth: access to cutting-edge technologies like robotics and advanced imaging, streamlined workflows and clinician-friendly tools that reduce clicks, modern data and analytics for real-time decision-making, and innovation-forward leadership that pilots new care models from tele-health to value-based peri-operative pathways.
Within surgical services, the Nurse Director of Surgery guides an integrated continuum across pre-op, intra-operative, PACU, and sterile processing, supported by strong physician and APP collaboration, deeply integrated pharmacy/PT/OT/case management, and specialty mentorship networks that accelerate skill growth through complex orthopedics, spine, and advanced procedures typical of a high-acuity, high-volume program.

Reporting to a Chief Nursing Officer or Vice President of Perioperative Services, the OR Nurse Director or Nurse Director of Surgery receives dedicated support from perioperative business operations, anesthesia leadership, sterile processing, materials management/supply chain, quality and infection prevention, and seasoned charge nurses across pre-op, intra-op, and PACU. Responsibilities for the Nurse Director of Surgery include staffing strategy and retention, budget stewardship, surgeon relations and block optimization, preference card governance, regulatory readiness, safety and HRO practices, implant/consumable cost management, OR throughput and on-time starts, EHR optimization, and continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma—while partnering with friendly nurses and a diverse healthcare professional team that thrives on teamwork, respect, and shared wins.
