Salary Range $70,000 – $110,000
Position Overview
A global specialty chemical manufacturer is seeking a Capital Project Engineer to support engineering initiatives at its Spring, Texas production facility. This role supports capital projects, process improvements, and equipment upgrades within a chemical manufacturing environment.
The Capital Project Engineer will assist with the planning and execution of engineering projects related to plant operations and process optimization. This position works closely with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure engineering initiatives are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with plant production goals.
This role is ideal for an engineer with experience in manufacturing or process environments who enjoys working hands-on with plant teams while supporting capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and execution of capital engineering projects supporting plant operations, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.
- Support the design, installation, and commissioning of new equipment, systems, and process technologies within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, safety, and engineering to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and milestones to ensure projects remain aligned with operational and financial targets.
- Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during project implementation and support resolution with plant and engineering teams.
- Ensure engineering projects comply with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate project progress and results.
- Assist senior engineers in identifying opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reductions within the plant.
- Participate in risk assessments and safety reviews associated with engineering projects.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 2+ years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing or process environment.
- Understanding of project management principles and capital project execution.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in plant or production environments.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work across production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
Preferred:
- Exposure to chemical manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with process control systems.
- PSM experience in chemical production environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment.
- Ability to walk production floors, climb stairs, and access equipment areas as needed for project support.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
