Manufacturing Quality Assurance Inspector
About the Role
Picture your day starting on the production floor, moving from line to line with calipers and micrometers in hand. You’re the steady presence who validates that every part meets spec, that processes are followed to the letter, and that emerging issues are contained before they become customer problems. As a Manufacturing Quality Assurance Inspector, you weave together hands-on inspection, process auditing, and collaboration with production, engineering, and quality teams to keep performance high and defects low.
What you’ll do
- Monitor part and process quality, driving corrective and preventive actions and countermeasures through to completion.
- Partner cross-functionally to uphold consistent, repeatable quality across operations.
- Audit manufacturing lines against approved processes, procedures, and requirements.
- Inspect incoming, in-process, and finished materials to internal and customer engineering specifications.
- Communicate emerging and trending quality issues quickly and clearly.
- Lead and coordinate containment, sorting, and MRB activities when needed.
- Contribute to Quality Management System development and continuous improvement.
- Train operators and inspectors on inspection techniques, rework standards, and quality expectations.
- Draft and review documentation such as Work Instructions and Quality Alerts.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required (college degree or equivalent preferred, not required).
- 1+ year in a Quality Inspection role.
Skills you bring
- Mechanical inspection proficiency with basic and precision tools (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, etc.).
- Comfort with common workplace software (Microsoft Office).
- Independent, resourceful problem-solver with curiosity for new tech and methods.
- Highly organized and detail-focused.
- Adaptable in a fast-paced start-up environment.
- Clear communicator and collaborative teammate with a strong work ethic.
Bonus points
- Exposure to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA.
- Knowledge of Lean practices and 5S.
- Start-up experience.
Physical demands
This role blends office and shop-floor time. You’ll regularly talk and hear; frequently use hands and fingers to handle tools and parts; and at times stand, walk, sit, reach, push/pull, climb/balance, and stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl. You must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs without assistance. Vision needs include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment.
Work environment & PPE
Expect a mix of quiet office space and an active production area with elevated noise, moving equipment, nuisance dust, and occasional chemical exposure from machine operation and maintenance. PPE may include safety glasses, safety shoes, bump-caps, gloves, hair nets, masks, and clean-room frocks in accordance with safety procedures.
Tools & technologies
- You should be proficient in: Quality Inspection Experience
- Machines & technologies you'll use: Calipers and Micrometers
