CMM Programmer
This role supports quality and manufacturing operations by developing and maintaining complex CMM inspection programs, validating precision parts, and resolving dimensional issues in a high-accuracy manufacturing environment. You will work with minimal supervision, ensuring that inspection processes are robust, repeatable, and compliant with stringent aerospace and high-precision industry standards.
Responsibilities- Develop, test, and maintain CMM inspection programs for complex components using BearServe software.
- Program and operate CMM equipment to perform accurate and repeatable measurements.
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections to verify conformance to engineering requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to define appropriate inspection strategies.
- Analyze dimensional data to identify trends and root causes of nonconforming conditions.
- Troubleshoot dimensional and measurement issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve quality concerns and optimize inspection methods.
- Generate clear and complete inspection reports and quality documentation to support internal and external requirements.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits by providing inspection data, documentation, and technical explanations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection methods, measurement systems, and quality processes.
- Utilize precision measuring tools and inspection equipment to validate CMM results and ensure measurement integrity.
- Contribute to maintaining compliance with applicable quality system standards and customer specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and support to inspection and quality personnel as needed.
- 10+ years of CMM programming and inspection experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Expertise with BearServe software for developing, executing, and maintaining CMM inspection programs (required).
- Hands-on experience programming and operating CMM equipment for complex geometries.
- Expert-level blueprint reading skills with strong proficiency in interpreting GD&T requirements.
- Proven ability to perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision components.
- Experience using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment to validate dimensional accuracy.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve dimensional and quality issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with little to no supervision while managing multiple tasks.
- Background in aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-precision manufacturing environments.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to document inspection results and quality findings clearly and accurately.
- Solid understanding of quality control principles and inspection best practices.
- Proficiency in applying GD&T principles to develop effective inspection strategies.
- Experience working within AS9100 and/or ISO-based quality management systems.
- First Article Inspection (FAI) experience, including documentation and reporting.
- Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) experience, including participation in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
- Experience supporting customer audits and supplier quality initiatives.
- Ability to mentor and coach junior inspectors and technicians in inspection techniques and CMM programming.
- Familiarity with machining processes and how they influence dimensional outcomes.
- Exposure to Mastercam or similar tools is beneficial for understanding manufacturing processes and features.
- Comfort working in environments with high-reliability and mission-critical product requirements.

Work EnvironmentYou will work in a small machine shop environment of approximately 15 people, providing a close-knit, collaborative atmosphere with direct access to decision-makers and technical experts. The facility focuses on high-precision, government-related aerospace work, including top-tier engine components, which requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to rigorous quality standards. The setting combines hands-on interaction with CMM equipment, precision measuring tools, and inspection systems with structured quality processes aligned to aerospace and defense requirements. Expect a production environment where flexibility, professionalism, and a focus on quality and continuous improvement are integral to daily operations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arlington, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $62.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
