Job Summary:
The Design Trainee will get hands-on experience designing roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels.
The position requires interaction with vendors, customers, and field staff. The Design Trainee reports to
the Design Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Ability to learn MiTek design software.
• Assist with wall panel layouts per architectural and structural plans and specifications.
• Assist with pricing/estimating data.
• Check floor/roof truss layouts and wall panel layouts for consistency.
• Assist with engineered wood products and hanger lists.
• Review layouts and shipping files for accuracy.
• Coordinate job set-up and data entry.
• Assist wall panel and truss designers with editing tasks.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience:
• General construction, framing experience, or truss/panel production experience is preferred but not
necessary.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office products.
• Working knowledge of framing, blueprints, specifications, and other construction documents is
preferred but not necessary.
• Professionally communicate and interact with co-workers.
Physical Requirements:
• Extended periods of time working on a computer.
• Lift up to 15 pounds.
