Public Safety Officer - Security - Bastrop, Texas

The primary work location is the MD Anderson Cancer Center Research campus in Bastrop, Texas at 650 Cool Water Dr. Bastrop, TX 78602.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of relevant work experience, and a valid Texas driver's license. Preferred qualifications include International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgment under pressure, and a commitment to public safety.

Minimum $18.00 - Midpoint $20.54 - Maximum $23.08 per hour based on a 40-hour work week. This is a full-time position with rotating shifts that may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities
• Provide information, directions, and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff
• Patrol campus by vehicle and on foot to monitor for suspicious activity and safety hazards
• Enforce institutional and parking regulations; issue permits and citations as needed
• Serve as a Campus Security Authority in compliance with the Clery Act
• Respond to emergencies and maintain calm, professional judgment under pressure
• Support institutional policies and ensure a safe environment for all individuals on campus

Requirements

EDUCATION
• Required: High school diploma or equivalent

WORK EXPERIENCE
• Required: One year of relevant work experience

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
• Required: Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license
• Preferred: International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources
