Tax Administrative Clerk II

Summary
Under direct supervision, is responsible for providing general administrative support to the department or office; and performs related duties as required.Duties and Responsibilities
- Types memos, reports, legal correspondence, purchase orders and other documents
- Maintains time and attendance reports for office employees
- Receives and processes incoming and outgoing mail
- Performs data entry
- Files and maintains reports, records and correspondence
- Answers telephone and refers calls to employees
- Maintains files and equipment lists, supplies and materials
- Accepts, receives and records cash payments or maintains payment records
- Compiles and prepares status reports on a periodic basis
- Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and two (2) years general office and administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Good knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets; knowledge of basic office procedures
- Skill in filing and organization of material; skill in operating personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment; skill in performing basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to maintain records, compile and organize reports; ability to operate personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment; ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals using tact and diplomacy; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, outside agencies and the general public
- Skill to type 40 wpm with no more than 7 errors. Requires recent typing test administered by Workforce Solutions Alamo Career Centers (Please attach a copy of your typing test results to your online application or fax them to (210) 335-2558 by the closing date. Typing test is valid one (1) year from test date.)
- Greets customers and visitors to the Tax Assessor-Collector's Office
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must secure and maintain a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- Must be able to maintain an effective attendance record/pattern
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
- Working conditions are inside an office environment
- Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 10-20 lbs. occasionally
- Occasionally; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard, 10-key adding machine, and basic office equipment. Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Positions self to perform essential functions
- Subject to sitting, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending to perform the essential functions
