LIBRARY CLERK (ENTRY LEVEL – LIBRARY / RECORDS SUPPORT)

We are seeking an Entry-Level Library Clerk to provide support in library operations and records management. This role is ideal for a dependable, organized individual who enjoys assisting with the organization and circulation of materials in a library or records setting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Other related duties may be assigned based on departmental needs.
- Assist with checking materials in and out, shelving books, and maintaining order in the library or records area.
- Support library staff with routine clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, copying, and scanning.
- Help maintain accurate records of materials, including processing new acquisitions and updating inventory.
- Assist patrons with locating materials or basic questions about the library/records system.
- Prepare, organize, and distribute documents or materials as directed.
- Support periodic inventory or auditing of library or records collections.
- Follow established procedures for confidentiality, cataloging, and recordkeeping.
- Perform other clerical duties as assigned to support efficient library operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Some clerical or office experience helpful, but on-the-job training will be provided .
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with data entry and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to follow instructions, organize tasks, and pay attention to detail.
- Reliable attendance and commitment to providing consistent support.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Primarily indoor office or library environment.
- May involve light physical activity such as shelving, lifting boxes of materials (up to 30 lbs), and reaching.
- Standard work hours with potential for occasional extended hours or support during special projects/events.
