CrossFit Head Coach & Operations Manager
Position Summary
The CrossFit Head Coach & Operations Manager is responsible for leading the coaching team, delivering an exceptional member experience, and overseeing the daily operations of the gym. This role combines fitness leadership with business management to ensure high-quality coaching, strong member retention, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Program Leadership
- Lead and coach CrossFit group classes, personal training sessions, and specialty programs.
- Ensure safe and effective instruction for athletes of all skill levels.
- Maintain coaching standards and programming consistency.
- Develop and implement athlete development and member retention strategies.
- Conduct movement assessments and provide scaling options as needed.
- Mentor, train, and evaluate coaching staff.
Team Management
- Recruit, onboard, and develop coaches and support staff.
- Create coaching schedules and ensure adequate class coverage.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews.
- Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented culture.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily gym operations, opening and closing procedures, and facility standards.
- Manage membership software, scheduling systems, and member communications.
- Ensure equipment is maintained, repaired, and replaced as necessary.
- Monitor inventory levels for retail products, supplies, and cleaning materials.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and risk management procedures.
Member Experience
- Build strong relationships with members and prospective clients.
- Handle member concerns and resolve issues professionally.
- Support onboarding and retention initiatives.
- Organize gym events, challenges, and community-building activities.
Sales & Business Development
- Assist with membership sales and lead conversion.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs), including attendance, retention, and revenue.
- Support marketing campaigns and social media initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and member engagement.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records and reporting.
- Manage budgets and operational expenses.
- Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports for ownership.
- Ensure compliance with CrossFit standards and local regulations.
Qualifications
Required
- Current CrossFit Level 2 Trainer (CF-L2) certification or higher.
- Minimum 3 years of CrossFit coaching experience.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Experience using gym management software.
Preferred
- CrossFit Level 3 (CF-L3) certification.
- Experience managing a fitness facility or gym.
- Sales and marketing experience.
- Personal training certification.
- Business management or operations experience.
