Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Childcare Cook to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks for children in our care, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and the food program. This role plays a vital part in promoting healthy eating habits and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen/cafeteria environment.

Duties

• Plan, prepare, and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children according to weekly menus and dietary guidelines.
• Accommodate children with allergies and specific dietary needs.
• Be able to type up menus and print and distribute throughout the center.
• Create new menus as needed.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including equipment, dishes, and food storage areas.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines in compliance with local health department regulations.
• Monitor and manage kitchen inventory; order and receive food and supplies as needed.
• Work collaboratively with center staff to ensure meal schedules align with daily classroom routines.
• Maintain accurate food production records, including meal counts and inventory logs.
• Input all information needed to comply with food program to meet their standards.
• Follow and uphold center policies and procedures.
• Clean tables, sweep/mop floors, clean sinks in cafeteria.
• Help during down periods with morning/afternoon breaks.
• Help with lunch breaks in classrooms.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years old
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and perform physical duties such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Must pass background checks and meet state licensing requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a licensed childcare facility or school cafeteria.
• Knowledge of CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) guidelines.
