Fiber Splicer

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Fiber Splicers for a 5-6 month project in El Paso, TX. This position will be responsible for performing fusion splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and installation support for fiber optic infrastructure on a military installation. Candidates must be dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently while maintaining quality workmanship and project timelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables.

• Prepare, terminate, splice, and test fiber optic cables and related components.

• Conduct OTDR testing and interpret test results to verify network performance.

• Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic systems as needed.

• Read and interpret construction drawings, splice diagrams, and network documentation.

• Maintain accurate splice records, test documentation, and project reports.

• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project specifications and safety requirements.

• Coordinate with project management and field teams to meet project deadlines.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.

• Perform work in both inside plant (ISP) environments including buildings, telecom rooms, MDF/IDF locations, and structured cabling pathways.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 2–3 years of fiber optic fusion splicing experience.

• Experience working with single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cable.

• Proficiency operating fusion splicers, OTDRs, and fiber testing equipment.

• Strong understanding of inside plant (ISP) fiber installations and environments.

• Ability to read and interpret splice diagrams, fiber network drawings, and construction documents.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• Ability to work overtime and flexible schedules as project demands require.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

• Must be able to successfully pass a background check.

• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

• Must be eligible to obtain access to and work on a military installation.

Preferred

• Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT).

• Certified Fiber Optic Specialist in Splicing (CFOS/S).

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.

• BICSI Installer or Technician Certification.

• Previous experience working on government, military, or secure facility projects.
