Overview

Great Basin Staffing is adding a dependable Fleet Mechanic to keep a mixed fleet of light/medium/heavy trucks and equipment safe, compliant, and productive. Expect steady work, clear priorities, and a safety-first culture.

What You’ll Do (Day-to-Day)

• PM & Inspections: Perform scheduled services (A/B/C), DOT/State inspections, brake checks, and safety audits.

• Diagnose & Repair: Engines (gas/diesel), driveline, cooling, electrical, emissions/DPF/DEF, air brakes , steering/suspension, hubs, hydraulics.

• Diagnostics: Use scan tools (JPRO, Cummins Insite, Allison DOC or similar) to pull codes, triage, and verify repairs.

• Tires & Brakes: Mount/balance, patch/replace, rotor/drum service, pad/shoe replacement, slack adjusters, S-cams.

• Hydraulics & PTO: Hoses/fittings, cylinders, PTO pumps, leaks, filters, reservoir service.

• Road-Readiness: Pre-trip/post-trip corrective actions, test drives, road calls as needed.

• Records & Parts: Update work orders/CMMS, maintain parts inventory, warranty core returns.

• Housekeeping & Safety: Keep the shop organized; follow lockout/tagout, spill control, and lift/jack procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• 10+ years as an automotive/diesel or fleet mechanic (shop or field).

• Solid knowledge of diesel & gas engines, air brake systems, 12V electrical, emissions systems (DPF/DEF).

• Able to read wiring diagrams and service manuals; use multimeter, pressure/vacuum gauges, scan tools.

• Own core hand tools; reliability and punctuality.

• Valid driver’s license ; insurable MVR; ability to lift 75 lbs and work in shop/yard conditions.

Nice to Have (Boosters)

• ASE A-series/T-series, CDL-A/B, State Inspector card, A/C 609 cert.

• Experience with telematics (Geotab/Samsara), CMMS (Fleetio, Manager+, etc.).

• Fabrication/welding basics (MIG/Stick), forklift/scissor/boom service.

• Mobile service truck experience; basic hydraulics troubleshooting.

Schedule & Conditions

• Mon–Fri , standard day shift; OT and occasional after-hours road calls as needed.

• Shop & outdoor yard; heat/cold exposure; PPE provided for shop operations.
