Nanny

We are seeking a Family Assistant who will provide companionship for our son, as well as household assistance. The primary goal is to provide consistent and calming companionship for our extremely high-functioning, neurodiverse child. Providing companionship - the child relates well with adults and is very pleasant; he enjoys gaming, swimming (must be able to swim and supervise swimming), and supervising playdates; sometimes candidate will allow him to have space, while still overseeing his safety and security Assist with light homework Hosting playdates Guiding George in regulating his emotions and social behavior, gently talk through emotions, etc. Provide transportation as needed (excellent driving record required) for various therapies Other duties will include: Organizing projects Load/unload dishwasher Doing child's laundry Preparing child's snack and dinner; family meal prep (chopping, washing, pre-heating oven, boiling water, etc. - it's a plus if candidate enjoys cooking) Candidate must be: Experienced with neurodiversity (Autism spectrum disorder, OCD, and/or ADHD) - caregiver should know appropriate approach/tones, etc. Extremely patient and gentle Attentive and consistent Mature and dependable Proactive, taking initiative to help in the home when not working with the child Comfortable with dogs - the family has a 25 lb Cavapoo Able to occasionally shift hours when he is off of school Preferred, but not required: the family spends the summer in Vail, so it is ideal if candidate can accompany the family for all, or most of the summer if possible (private bedroom and bath) It would be ideal if family assistant can cover occasional date nights and/or weekend social events (e.g., football games), which are planned in advance. The 8-year-old child is on the autism spectrum, and has moderate to severe anxiety disorder depending on the environment. His conditions are not immediately obvious because he is so high functioning, but the right candidate will approach the position with knowledge and understanding of autism, ADHD, and generalized anxiety disorder, with the ultimate goal to make the child as comfortable as possible. This means being invested, energetic (not distracted), a positive attitude, and acceptance that the connection will be quite different than a typical nanny position. The right match is the goal, because the relationship can be beautiful, and the family is seeking a long-term partner in their journey. You can be a lifesaver for this family by being flexible to either spend time with their child, or by proactively helping out with household if the child is having a hard day and prefers to be with Mom. Dad works full time, and candidate is allowing Mom time to get tasks accomplished, both inside and outside of the house.
