Director of Purchasing and Distribution
General: Provide service to all Texas Dairy Queen Operators and restaurants in regards to products, pricing, distribution, marketing, and overall function of the services provided by the TDQOC.
Location : Full-time Onsite | Bedford, TX | $140K - $180K/yr
Minimal travel to vendor plant inspections, annual National Restaurant Association show, and annual Corporate and State Conventions.
Responsibilities :
Oversee Texas DQ purchasing and distribution functions. Manage purchasing department focus to provide quality service, beneficial results, and further develop relationships with Operators, managers, distributors, and vendors. Clearly define function and responsibilities of TDQOC purchasing staff to Operators and managers.
• Coordinate the Approval process on Vendors, Distributors, Products, and services. Continually seek opportunities to reduce or maintain costs, enhance product quality or performance, and coordinate distribution efforts.
• Negotiate pricing agreements and contracts on products, distribution, and services for TDQ system.
• Analyze and evaluate Vendors and products to determine opportunities for improvement, savings, or changes.
• Oversee TDQ Convention planning and participation in the areas of responsibility of the Vendors, Distributor, and purchasing personnel participation in the exhibits and convention functions.
• Conduct plant and distribution facility inspections on all Texas Country Foods Vendors and Distributors. Monitor QA performance on all approved products.
• Identify and coordinate new product opportunities and development. Coordinate and conduct product testing.
Prepare and monitor purchasing budget and expenditures.
• Track and analyze product movement and product cost.
• Monitor daily shortages and product complaints.
• Monitor industry commodity markets, changes, issues, and recalls.
• Communicate with Operators and managers in regards to needs or issues that should be addressed. Follow-up on all issues communicated from Operators or managers.
• Track key items and promotional items monthly movement for marketing analysis and planning.
Requirements :
· Education
· Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
· Work experience
· 15+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles
· Experience with vendor negotiations and contract management
· Skills
· Strong negotiation and analytical skills
· Excellent communication and relationship management abilities
· High attention to detail and organizational skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong Candidates will :
· Act with urgency and ownership in managing procurement processes
· Food commodities Supply Chain experience preferred
· Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills for restaurant/Franchisee Supply Chain issues and adaptability
· Build and maintain strong vendor, Franchisee and internal relationships
· Be highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
· Continuously seeking process improvements and cost efficiencies
