We are seeking a detail-oriented Sr. Accountant to support payroll, job costing, and day-to-day accounting operations within a dynamic project-driven organization. This role works closely with project managers and operational leaders to maintain accurate financial records, monitor project costs, and ensure timely financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, hands-on payroll experience, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for salaried, hourly, and field employees while ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, benefits, garnishments, and deductions.
• Enter, review, reconcile, and audit payroll transactions using QuickBooks and Intuit Enterprise Suite.
• Investigate payroll discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Allocate labor expenses and employee hours to projects and cost codes to support accurate job costing and project profitability analysis.
• Review timesheets, approvals, and coding prior to payroll processing.
• Assist with project accounting activities, including job cost reporting, Work-in-Progress (WIP) tracking, and Schedule of Values (SOV) monitoring.
• Generate payroll, labor, and project-related financial reports for management review.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment application, account reconciliations, and collections support.
• Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations, payroll tax filings, W-2 preparation, and 1099 reporting.
• Ensure payroll and accounting procedures remain compliant with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Collaborate with accounting, project management, and operations teams to support accurate financial reporting and cost control initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
• 4+ years of accounting and payroll experience.
• Strong understanding of payroll administration, payroll taxes, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with general accounting functions, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Job costing, project accounting, or construction accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Enterprise, or Intuit Enterprise Suite preferred.
• Familiarity with labor allocation, cost coding, WIP reporting, and SOV tracking is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with multiple departments.
