Position Summary
The Community Impact Relationship Manager is responsible for building, managing, and growing meaningful relationships with volunteers, community partners, corporate groups, and faith-based organizations to strengthen community engagement and enhance the experience of youth at Covenant House Texas. This role designs and leads engagement pathways that connect the community to the mission, ensuring that service opportunities are purposeful, trauma informed, and aligned with organizational priorities.
The Community Impact Relationship Manager serves as a connector between community partners and internal teams, creating experiences that foster belonging, long term commitment, and a shared investment in providing unconditional love, respect, and hope to youth facing homelessness.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive community engagement strategy that supports organizational priorities and enhances youth experience.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with individual volunteers, corporate partners, faith-based organizations, and community groups to build long term commitment and advocacy.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for community engagement inquiries, partnerships, and service opportunities.
- Create meaningful, mission aligned engagement experiences that reflect Covenant House Texass values and trauma informed care practices.
- Develop clear engagement roles and service opportunities across departments, ensuring alignment with program needs, safety standards, and youth centered practices.
- Partner closely with program, development, and operations teams to identify ongoing engagement needs and coordinate support seamlessly.
- Provide guidance, tools, and best practices to staff on effectively partnering with and supporting community participants.
- Lead onboarding and orientation experiences for community partners and volunteers, including training, documentation, and background check processes as required.
- Coordinate schedules, participation tracking, and engagement logistics using organizational systems.
- Plan and execute engagement events, appreciation opportunities, and recognition of moments that deepen connection and retention.
- Collaborate with the Development team to support key engagement initiatives and events, including Sleep Out, the Gala, The Covenant House Effect open house experience, and other community facing opportunities.
- Support cultivation and stewardship efforts by helping translate community engagement into deeper philanthropic relationships when appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with Covenant House Texas policies, safety protocols, and applicable regulations related to community engagement.
- Track participation, engagement trends, and impact metrics; prepare monthly and annual reports for leadership.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on data, feedback, and evolving organizational needs.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, social services, communications, or a related field preferred.
- 35 years of experience in community engagement, volunteer management, relationship management, or a related role within a nonprofit or youth serving organization.
- Strong relationship building and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders with professionalism and warmth.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience developing systems, processes, or tools that enhance team efficiency and community impact.
- Passion for Covenant House Texass mission and commitment to trauma informed, youth centered care.
Preferred:
- Experience working with corporate, faith-based, or community partnerships.
- Familiarity with Houston area community networks and organizations.
- Experience using CRM or volunteer management systems.

- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
- Some evening and weekend work required for community events or engagement activities.
- Full time, 40 hours per week.
Covenant House Texas (CHT) opened its doors in 1983 to provide shelter for homeless, abused and abandoned youth ages 18 – 24. After more than 35 years of service, CHT offers an extensive continuum of care model for homeless youth including mental health and substance abuse counseling, educational and vocational training, transitional and permanent living programs, street outreach and prevention, pastoral ministry and parenting classes in addition to providing the basic necessities of food, clothing, medical care and safe shelter from the streets for youth in crisis.
