Texas Healthcare Job Details

• Location: Tyler, Texas 75701 (East Texas)
• Healthcare Setting: Level III NICU (9 beds, potential expansion to 16)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens nursing contract
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 8, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: 3 x 12-hour night shifts weekly (18:00 – 06:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Shifts: 12 per 12-week contract
• Patient Ratio: 1:3
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Orientation: 28 hours onsite
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1750-$1800

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of recent NICU RN experience (Level III NICU preferred)
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Community hospital experience
• Ability to float to Well Baby unit as needed
• Must not reside in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties

NICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate neonatal care in a Level III NICU
• Manage a patient ratio of 1:3, caring for neonates as young as 29 weeks gestation
• Perform arterial and central line management, blood draws, and IV starts/maintenance
• Administer feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and manage isolation precautions
• Deliver ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) and care for neonates with respiratory distress, sepsis, hypoglycemia, hyperbilirubinemia, and other diagnoses
• Float to Well Baby unit as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, and lactation consultants
• Utilize specialized NICU equipment: conventional vents, HFOV, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and more
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
