St. David's Foundation is a community-focused and equity-driven organization supporting health and wellness in Central Texas. It is one of the largest health foundations in the United States, funding more than $100 million annually in a five-county area surrounding Austin, Texas.

Through a unique partnership with St. David's HealthCare, the Foundation strategically reinvests proceeds from the hospital system back into the community, with a goal of advancing health equity and addressing the needs of the communities facing the greatest health challenges.

Beyond grantmaking, the Foundation operates the largest mobile dental program in the country, providing highly accessible, quality oral healthcare, and offers the largest healthcare scholarship program in Texas, the St. David's Neal Kocurek Program.

JOB PURPOSE
The Communications Officer leads and supports communications efforts that advance Foundation-wide programs and initiatives. This team member is a storyteller at heart - with exceptional writing skills, the ability to develop compelling, impactful content, and work collaboratively across the Foundation with a goal of informing the communities we serve and moving our work forward. This team member is responsible for creating and implementing strategic communications, planning, campaign development, and content creation through an education lens.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years of experience in communications, journalism, or marketing.
• Demonstrated experience in supporting the execution of traditional and social media communications plans and strategies.
• Knowledge of and experience with social media tools and technologies.
• Experience with WordPress and other website management platforms, Asana, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, Mailchimp and MuckRack.
• Outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Reliable transportation for travel to multiple worksites within five (5) Central Texas counties, including occasional nights and weekends.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of seven years of experience in communications, journalism, or marketing.
• Experience in philanthropy and/or issue campaigns environment.
• Experience working in public health, advocacy, nonprofits, or grantmaking.
