Summary:
We are currently looking for a vigilant and meticulous Testing Laboratory Technician I, who will perform accurate and timely testing of routine laboratory samples in accordance with cGLP, cGMP, cGAP, and safety guidelines, to support our site EO sterilization operations of medical devices. This is an entry level position, however for the right experience and demonstrated profile during the interviewing process, this position may also be a senior level technician with higher compensation and responsibilities.
To be a successful laboratory technician, the incumbent must demonstrate good critical thinking and judgment, and great attention to detail. At Steritec our customer base comprises a broad spectrum of medical device companies around the globe. The laboratory technician will perform laboratory testing techniques including but not limited to Ethylene Oxide residual analysis (EO, ECH) testing, Media Preparation, Bioburden, Cleaning Laboratory Apparatus and Glassware, Bacteriostasis/ Fungistasis, Sterility Testing, LAL Pyrogen analysis, Endotoxin (RFC Method), Sterility, Growth Promotion, Particulates, Microbial Identification, and other duties as assigned.
The laboratory technician shall generate data, review test results, interpret results, and perform second person verification (SPV) of analytical data. The laboratory technician shall utilize technical skills to perform in-depth problem solving, proactive identification of opportunities for continuous improvement, and assist in resolving laboratory investigations of atypical data and results. This individual will be reporting to the Director of the Laboratory, with dotted lines of reporting to other scientific leadership personnel within the company.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
· This position is a full-time role, working Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, as well as overtime as needed.
· Conducts testing procedures, sample management, and assisting the entire laboratory team with daily laboratory operations.
· Performs and interprets established standard testing protocols in the laboratory including assisting in IQ, OQ,PQ of process validations.
· Assist in checking method suitability for tests, ensuring compliance with established standards.
· Performs sample preparation for the entire testing suite, including handling, aliquoting, and organizing samples for analysis.
· Prepares solutions and reagents for testing, ensuring proper handling and storage.
· Enter and verify test data in accordance with cGMP and cGLP standards, maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
· Provides general maintenance, cleaning, and care of laboratory equipment, ensuring pristine glassware and utensils.
· Clean, organize, and maintain laboratory areas, including stock room(s) and workspaces, while ensuring proper disposal of biohazard waste and hazardous chemical waste.
· Collaborate with other laboratory technicians and facilities technicians by assisting with equipment maintenance and following daily cleaning procedures.
· Support the accurate and detailed documentation and tracking of sample data, including receiving and logging samples into the LIMS system.
· Record test results, following company document control procedures, proper filing and compliant storage of records.
· Maintain proper inventory control by monitoring inventory levels, reordering from suppliers, applying a first-in, first-out stock rotation and 6S methodology.
· Contribute to routine laboratory maintenance and inventory checks to ensure operational readiness.
· Performs proper in-take procedures for reception of both supplies and customer products.
· Create shipping manifests and documentation when required.
· Follows safety protocols and maintains compliance with laboratory safety standards and Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC), utilizing proper safety and workflow practices while performing tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
· Communicates effectively across departments, including but not limited to quality, customer care, facilities, operations and other internal teams, to ensure smooth workflow and alignment with company objectives.
· Completes work orders based on customer order requests/protocols.
· Maintains a high level of communication skills when interfacing with both internal and external customers.
· Comply with Quality Management (QMS) procedures and company policies.
· Other duties as assigned by the director and/or management.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field, OR an Associates degree with relevant laboratory experience, OR a GED/High School Diploma with good laboratory work experience as a technician (e.g. Pharmacy Technician, Medical Laboratory Technician, Certified CNA, Clinical Laboratory Technician, Dental Hygienist, etc)
· Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
· Proficient with Math skills and calculations.
· Basic understanding of good aseptic practices, microbiological techniques, laboratory protocols, and sample handling.
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions with precision.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Familiarity with Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC) and sterile environments.
· Physical dexterity to perform testing accurately and precisely, along with the capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Proficient in reading, understanding, and complying with company policies and SOPs, including safety rules and regulations.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
· Ability to maintain focus and complete work in a timely manner, with a willingness to adapt and learn new skills as needed.
Experience:
· Experience in data entry and laboratory information systems (eQMS and LIMS).
· Experience with wet chemistry techniques, organic chemistry course and analytical chemistry course
· Experience in cGLP or cGMP regulated laboratories.
· Familiarity with CFR and ISO regulations pertaining to controlled documents and controlled laboratory environments.
· Experience in cGAP (current Good Aseptic Practices) (preferred).
· Knowledge of QA/QC, document control, laboratory procedures, and experimental execution.
· Strong organization skills, asl well as clear and precise written and verbal communication skills.

· Work environment involves exposure to materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and the use of personal protective equipment.
