Summary

The Senior Research Administration Associate manages the pre award/post award grant support process for Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine. The Senior Research Administration Associate will serve as a source of expertise for federal, state, industry, and private foundation application and award policies and develop budgets and applications, provide award financial management and reporting, and manage cost & effort allocations and effort reporting.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule after a training period.

Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.

Job Duties

  • Recommends improvement to and changes in operations to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Provides grant program expertise, financial expertise, and guidance related to sponsored research to leaders and faculty.
  • Reviews and approves grant applications, certifying summary data in the College's electronic Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN) on behalf of the department.
  • Contributes and leads the development and continuous improvement of the pre-award and post award grants management process.
  • Reviews and analyzes current protocols, faculty-staff communication, and quality of the submission process. Makes recommendations for process revisions and lead implementation of changes as appropriate.
  • Consults with faculty regarding funding opportunities, eligibility, and application requirements for sponsored funding. The opportunities can range from simple fellowship grants to complex grants and contracts.
  • Contributes to the preparation of budget for grant quarterly/biannual/annual reporting purposes.
  • Prepares grants and subcontracts submissions internally (BRAIN) and externally (Sponsor sites).
  • Ensures compliance with all guidelines.
  • Serves as grants liaison between faculty, Baylor College of Medicine, national and international institutions, and/or federal/private funding agencies.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be a self-starter, able to manage deadlines, and able to communicate with PI and research leadership.
  • Experience and advance knowledge in grant application development, budgeting and grant financial management.
  • Possess working knowledge of sponsor application submission systems such as ASSIST, Workspace, and Proposal Central.

 

 

 

Work Authorization Requirement:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
