Hiring Department : Purchasing & General Services
Reports To: Director of Purchasing & General Services
Job Location: On-Site, El Paso, Texas

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm
FLSA status: Non-exempt
Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary : $32,967 annually

Position Summary
This position requires multi-functional tasks such as shipping and receiving, warehousing materials, storage, inventory of warehouse, issuing materials, billing procedures, surplus items, expediting, issuing receiving reports, maintaining records, and purchasing items for warehouse. Works with hazardous materials, operates a forklift, pallet jack and other equipment used in typical warehouse operations.
Statement of Duties and Responsibilities
Inspects and receives incoming shipments of merchandise from a wide variety of businesses and trucking firms.
Issues receiving reports for items received, expedites delivery when needed, resolves discrepancies from shipments (overages, shortages, damaged, incorrect, etc).
Delivers materials and goods to all University departments.
Works and handles hazardous materials and must have specialized training for this position.
Communicates daily with faculty, staff, management, and vendors on a wide variety of issues concerning purchase orders, contracts, surplus, warehouse inventory, etc.
Stores goods received in appropriate places, issues goods from warehouse and receiving section and ensures proper paperwork is completed for each transaction.
Has a working knowledge of inventory rules and procedures to ensure all inventory items are tagged prior to delivery or issue.
Inputs data into the computer system.
Issues automated receiving reports and maintains stock levels in the warehouse.
Works with surplus on proper transfer of surplus items as required.
Handles billing for items issued from the warehouse as a part of the operation.
Prepares outgoing shipments of materials by various modes of transportation.
Prepares purchasing documents for items to be stocked in the warehouse.
Makes purchases from state contracts and local vendors using small purchase procedures.
Operates a forklift (requires training and certification).
Operates a wide variety of equipment normally found in a large warehouse operation.
Performs inspections and preventative maintenance on trucks, forklift, and other mechanical equipment used in the warehouse operation.
Maintains a neat and safe environment inside the warehouse at all times.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies and applicable laws.

Required Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: (2) Two years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
