Gastroenterology Medical Assistant

Position Summary:
The Medical Office Specialist is responsible for creating a positive patient experience while managing front office operations efficiently. This role includes patient scheduling, insurance verification, phone management, check-in/check-out procedures, and general administrative support within a busy GI practice.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients in a professional and friendly manner.
- Answer incoming calls and route messages appropriately.
- Schedule office visits, procedures, and follow-up appointments.
- Obtain prior authorizations when needed.
- Collect copays, balances, and patient demographic information.
- Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system.
- Coordinate with providers, medical assistants, and billing staff.
- Handle referrals, medical records requests, and patient forms.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Assist with additional administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous medical office or healthcare experience preferred.
- Gastroenterology experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- e-EClinicalWorks experience preferred.
- Reliable, organized, and team-oriented.
