Job Summary

The Engineering Technician II provides hands-on technical support for electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, including assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair. This role supports PLC, HMI, and drive systems through troubleshooting, debugging, and minor program modifications.

This is a hands-on position supporting both shop and field operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and experience working with industrial control systems while maintaining compliance with NOV and HSE standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical support for electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems
  • Assemble, wire, and construct system components and equipment
  • Test, troubleshoot, and debug electrical and control systems
  • Support PLC and HMI systems through troubleshooting and minor program modifications (Allen Bradley, Siemens)
  • Assist with AC and DC drive setup and debugging
  • Maintain and upgrade testing equipment
  • Support field and shop operations, including equipment commissioning and service
  • Assist with technical documentation including drawings, BOMs, and manuals
  • Review and update project documentation for accuracy
  • Coordinate parts and materials for projects
  • Follow all NOV HSE and QMS policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical or control systems
  • 1 -3 years' experience with PLC systems (Allen Bradley or Siemens)
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills (Programming)
  • Ability to work in both shop and field environments
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience modifying PLC programs or assisting with programming
  • Familiarity with HMI systems
  • Experience with AC/DC drives
  • Prior field service or commissioning experience
  • Experience working in industrial or manufacturing environments

Work Environment

  • Combination of shop and field work
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and industrial environments
  • Occasional travel (less than 20%)
  • May require working at heights or using manlifts
  • Must be comfortable working in physically demanding and hands-on environments
