SUMMARY
Peace Over Violence (POV) is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) program. The SART program provides trauma-informed, survivor centered - crisis intervention, advocacy, and support services to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence (IPV). Our Emergency Response Team responds to two SART Centers in Los Angeles County, and local law enforcement agencies in the West San Gabriel Valley Area.
Peace Over Violence is seeking a highly motivated and resourceful professional to join our Emergency Response Team program. The SART Coordinator plays a critical role in responding to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence (IPV), providing trauma-informed advocacy, crisis intervention, and comprehensive case management.
The ideal candidate is a problem solver who can navigate complex situations and work collaboratively with a wide range of community partners, including law enforcement, medical professionals, City and District Attorney offices, and other community service providers. They must be resourceful, adaptable, and able to advocate effectively on behalf of survivors, helping them access services, navigate systems, and feel empowered in their healing journey.
A strong understanding of trauma-informed support services, sexual violence, and domestic violence is essential, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and build trusting relationships with survivors and partner organizations. The SART Coordinator must also demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to coordinate emergency response, case management, training, and community outreach programs successfully.
Direct Emergency Response:
Respond to sexual assault and domestic violence incidents at SART centers, hospitals, and law enforcement stations.
Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention and emotional support to survivors.
Support the POV hotline and participate in on-call rotations.
Conduct needs assessments, provide safety planning, and connect survivors to internal and external resources.
Case Management
Coordinate and attend SART committee meetings, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members.
Assist survivors with Safe at Home and California Victims Compensation Board (CALVCB) applications.
Advocate on behalf of survivors with community partners, including housing providers, CalWORKs, County services, law enforcement, and Department of Children and Family Services.
Prepare individualized case service plans and goals for clients.
Maintain accurate case files and documentation.
Prepare monthly case management reports.
Support survivors in preparing for court hearings and other legal proceedings.
SART Coordinator:
Coordinate and attend SART committee meetings, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members.
Attend community meetings to represent Peace Over Violence.
Coordinate outreach and orientation for new SART committee members.
Network with local and community systems to promote the SART and its work, including conducting community needs assessments, reviewing protocols, and facilitating trainings.
Training & Community Outreach:
Provide training to community partners on sexual violence and POV services.
Build and maintain partnerships with local agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations to strengthen SART initiatives.
Participate in community outreach to raise awareness of sexual assault services and resources.
Conduct roll-call and other educational sessions for law enforcement and first responders.
qualifications
In-depth knowledge of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse/neglect, stalking, and elder abuse interventions.
Strong problem-solving, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.
Confident public speaking abilities and experience presenting to law enforcement, community partners, and professional audiences.
Ability to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with law enforcement, medical professionals, District and City Attorneys, and community-based organizations.
Resourceful, adaptable, and able to work independently while managing multiple priorities and emergencies.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care and survivor-centered practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
Bilingual speakers preferred to support effective communication with diverse communities.
Must have completed a minimum of 40 hours of sexual assault training and intend to complete POV’s 82-hour Counselor Advocate Training
Schedule - weekly rotation:
7:00am – 3:30pm, 1:00pm – 9:30pm, 9:30pm – 6:00am
