Accounts Receivable Clerk - Construction/HVAC

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Receivable (AR) Clerk to join our plumbing company’s accounting team. The AR Clerk will be responsible for reviewing customer invoices, applying payments, and managing collections. The ideal candidate has prior experience in the plumbing industry, understands project billing and service call invoicing, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple jobs and contractors.

Responsibilities:

• Create and send customer invoices for completed plumbing services, projects, and service calls.
• Accurately post payments received via check, ACH, wire, or credit card.
• Monitor and follow up on past-due accounts with professional and timely communication.
• Reconcile AR ledger and maintain accurate aging reports.
• Assist in job costing support by confirming customer billing matches services performed and materials used.
• Address customer billing questions and resolve disputes quickly and professionally.
• Prepare and send monthly statements to customers as needed.
• Maintain organized digital and physical records for all AR-related documents.
• Support month-end close processes and assist with reporting as required.
• Work with lien processes and preliminary notices as applicable to construction-related jobs.

Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of AR or general accounting experience; plumbing industry experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with job costing and service-based billing models is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with construction accounting software ( ServiceTitan and Sage Intacct ) preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Work Schedule:

• Monday thru Friday 7:30am - 5:00pm
• Office environment within a plumbing service-based company.
• Standard business hours
• Sitting and working at a computer for extended periods.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Experience:

• Service Titan and Sage Intacct: 3 years (Required)
• AR or general accounting construction or trades industry: 3 years (Required)
