Accountant

The Accountant will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records related to j ob costing, project-based accounting, and cost analysis. This role plays a critical part in monitoring cost performance, supporting project managers, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Job Costing & Project Accounting
- Set up and maintain job cost structures for active projects
- Monitor and track project costs against budgets, contracts, and forecasts
- Allocate labor, materials, and overhead costs to individual jobs
- Prepare job cost reports for internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with operations and project managers to analyze variances and cost drivers
- Perform monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Assist with preparing internal and external financial statements
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation
- Prepare detailed financial reports related to job performance and profitability
- Analyze manufacturing and project costs to identify inefficiencies or cost-saving opportunities
- Support audits and ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations
- Ensure integrity of job cost accounting systems (ERP/MRP)
- Identify and implement improvements in accounting and reporting processes
- Support integration of financial data across departments
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or construction/project-based environment
- Strong job costing experience is required
- Proficiency with ERP systems (experience with SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or JobBOSS a plus)
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
- Strong Excel skills and analytical ability
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, while also collaborating effectively within a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards task completion and continuous improvement.
- Full-time, on-site position.
- Standard office hours, Monday through Friday.
- Occasional overtime may be required during the month-end or year-end closing periods.
