What We Look For In a CPCE Tutor

• Advanced Test Mastery: Deep knowledge of CPCE examination content covering human growth and development, social and cultural diversity, helping relationships, group work, career development, assessment, research and program evaluation, and professional orientation. Ability to explain counseling theories, ethical standards, and assessment procedures while preparing counseling students for the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination.
• Strategic Test-Taking & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching counseling theory comparison, ethical dilemma analysis, and assessment interpretation for CPCE examination. Guides students through applying theoretical frameworks to client scenarios, evaluating multicultural counseling considerations, interpreting assessment results, and understanding research design principles. Emphasizes integrating knowledge across the eight CACREP core areas and connecting theory to counseling practice.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with CPCE content areas aligned with CACREP standards and common challenges such as distinguishing between similar counseling theories, applying ethics codes to complex scenarios, and understanding research methodology. Adapts instruction using practice examinations, theory comparison charts, and case study analysis to support counseling students preparing for program comprehensive examinations.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
