Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of our automotive dealership located in Paris, Texas . This position plays a key leadership role within the accounting office and will work closely with the Controller and General Manager to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will bring prior dealership accounting experience, hands-on experience with Reynolds & Reynolds (ERA-IGNITE preferred) , and experience working with Ally Financial . This individual must be capable of mentoring, managing, and running daily accounting operations while helping drive financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

• Mentor, manage, and develop accounting office staff
• Oversee and run day-to-day dealership accounting operations
• Serve as backup to the Controller and step in to lead the office when needed
• Ensure deadlines are met for financial reporting and compliance
• Partner with the General Manager and department leaders to review performance and profitability

Financial Reporting & Accounting

• Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements and OEM reports
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and schedules
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and dealership accounting standards
• Assist with internal and external audits

Dealership Accounting Operations

• Oversee daily accounting functions including:
  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Deal posting and funding verification
  • Floorplan reconciliations
  • New and used vehicle inventory reconciliations
  • Warranty and rebate receivables
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with manufacturer and lender requirements

Lender & Floorplan Management

• Work directly with Ally Financial regarding:
  • Floorplan reconciliations
  • Payoffs and curtailments
  • Interest calculations
  • Audit requests and reporting
• Coordinate with the Finance Department to ensure timely deal funding
• Monitor lender statements and resolve discrepancies

Systems & Process Improvement

• Utilize Reynolds & Reynolds for accounting, reporting, and deal management
• Ensure accuracy of deal posting and reporting within the system
• Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and control
• Maintain strong internal controls and segregation of duties

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of automotive dealership accounting experience
• Strong working knowledge of Reynolds & Reynolds (ERA preferred)
• Experience working with Ally Financial (floorplan and funding processes)
• Solid understanding of dealership financial statements
• Experience with inventory and floorplan reconciliations
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to work onsite 5 days per week

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Previous experience as Senior Accountant in a dealership
• CPA or CPA candidate (a plus, not required)
