: Description Job Overview The Social Media Coordinator serves as content developer and coordinator of content placement utilizing the district's social media assets. This incumbent also provides support in graphic design, writing, editing and distributing news releases and taking accompanying photographs and video, as well as supporting the communications team.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsive Communication

  • Effectively inform all stakeholders of the District's mission and vision in action, demonstrating the effectiveness of the public school system, fiscal stewardship, and commitment to the development of the whole child, in accordance with the Profile of a Graduate
Reputation Management
  • Monitor and manage the reputation of the school district, reinforcing the systems in place that allow all students to reach their full potential, and provide safe and supportive learning environments
Public Relations Support & Strategy
  • Develop and distribute strategic public relations campaigns targeted to stakeholders, community members, and news entities
  • Draft strategic communication plans that demonstrate and align with the District's mission, vision, core beliefs, goals, objectives, and the Profile of a Graduate
Brand Awareness & Marketing
  • Develop and build awareness of the FBISD brand, creating a clear understanding of the District's mission and goals
  • Plan, Collaborate, Develop, and Execute marketing campaigns that effectively reach the target audiences, encouraging promoting buy-in among all stakeholder groups
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, influencer engagement and audience identification
  • Generate, edit, publish and share content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members/followers/subscribers to take action
  • Manage the engagements on all social media assets
  • Capture and analyze appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and act on the information
  • Conduct media monitoring for all FBISD news mentions, as well as other pertinent education-related topics
  • Provide general support as needed regarding planning and execution of district events and activities coordinated by the communications department
  • Work collaboratively with the Communications Team on various campaigns and projects to ensure the goals of the district are being met
  • Stay up-to-date on market and education trends as well as emerging digital/social marketing developments; apply, test and share learnings with peers
  • Write, edit and review internal and external communication materials with strategic focus on key messages and intended audience
  • Provide social media support to campuses using district guidelines to social media applications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in Public relations, journalism, communications or other related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of strategic communications experience
  • Demonstrated experience working as a social media content developer
  • Demonstrated experience managing the engagement function of a brand's social media assets
  • Excellent communication skills with an emphasis in writing and editing, including working knowledge of Associated Press style and grammar, while meeting strict deadlines
  • Photography and videography skills and samples to review
  • Excellent organizational and computer skills with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience working as a print writer and script writer in an educational oriented environment preferred

May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress. Additional Information
  • Most tasks are performed in a sedentary work environment and required in normal, everyday activities including sitting, walking, standing, bending, reaching. Ability to type/operate computer keyboard for long periods. Ability to transfer, move, shelve supplies and materials weighing 25 pounds or less manually or with assistance. Work is performed in an office and is subject to frequent interruptions. Some assignments involve contact with disruptive taxpayers or the public, and/or involves exposure to normal, everyday risks. Some assignments are subject to tailoring and delivering programs to meet the needs of many divergent groups and involve the potential stress associated with time-sensitive completion of tasks. Some assignments involve moderate noise levels, high volume work flow. Some assignments require travel throughout the district.
