Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, PC (OAH) is one of Connecticut’s largest and most respected orthopedic specialty groups, with seven office locations and three out-patient surgical centers throughout Hartford County. As a total orthopedic care center, our physicians specialize in orthopedic surgery, dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of the bones, muscles, tendons, nerves, and ligaments in adults and children. OAH is currently seeking an experienced Healthcare Data Analyst to join our team.
Requirements
Duties, Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Works with internal departments and external partners, as needed, to develop, collect, organize, model, assess, and analyze healthcare related data using analytical and/or statistical tools.
- Develops useful methodologies to examine, interpret, analyze and present data analysis products using statistical techniques, graphs, images and lists that communicate results to the relevant audience.
- Serves as a resource to department managers and facilitates their use of corporate data. Works across departments to provide supportive information for various initiatives including productivity, business planning, volume trend analysis, case mix index, reimbursement, and costing.
- Evaluates and monitors data integrity and quality of reports for assigned projects.
- Responsible for following OAH policies and procedures established by the organization, ensures compliance with security and privacy framework (PHI, HIPAA, etc.), and maintains confidentiality of sensitive data.
- Performs data quality assessments.
- Identifies, develops, recommends, and prioritizes improvements to processes, programs, initiatives, and reporting requirements using analytical skills and a variety of reporting tools, aimed to meet key clinical, financial, human resource, and operational data to develop strategic business cases.
- Possesses strong knowledge of clinical terminology including ICD10 codes.
- Monitors projects against defined plans and maintains key performance indicators and balanced scorecards for the assigned area.
- Performs data validation, cleansing and normalization across multiple data sources.
- Supports program projects to ensure operational efficiency targets via data analysis.
- Organizes and reports monthly data analysis across assigned projects to identify trends.
- Develops short-and long-term goals that meet established objectives and contribute to the overall goals of the team/programs.
- Applies comprehensive knowledge and thorough understanding of clinical and financial analysis, concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform tasks and projects, and identify and design new solutions.
- Identifies opportunities to introduce new application solutions, gather and document requirements, lead software selection processes, design, implement, integrate, test and train on new solutions.
- Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and committees to provide perspective.
- Ability to mine clinical data from various EMR systems and other identified systems, while meeting and maintaining HIPAA standards and policies and procedures.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned.
The Healthcare Data Analyst will have the ability to function autonomously and as a member in a multidisciplinary team, relying on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Effective oral, written, and presentation skills are necessary, as well as problem-solving and decision-making skills and ability to exhibits a certain degree of creativity and latitude.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree. May also consider three years of progressive experience in the field in lieu of every year of education.
· At least four (4) years’ Information Technology experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
· At least four (4) years’ experience working as a Business Analyst in the healthcare domain.
· Proficient in understanding/analyzing/ writing SQL queries.
· Knowledge of industry tools.
· Analytical, communication, planning, and coordination skills.
· Experience with project management.
