Travis Country Veterinary Hospital , a thriving general practice in the heart of Austin, TX, offers an exceptional externship experience designed for veterinary students in their 3rd or 4th year . We’re part of the NVA (National Veterinary Associates) network—committed to supporting learning, mentorship, and top-tier patient care.
🔍 What You’ll Gain:
Hands-On Clinical Training: Practice gathering histories, conducting exams, performing diagnostics, assisting with dentistry, and managing inpatient care.
Surgical Exposure: Observe and assist in routine surgeries; opportunities to perform procedures under supervision based on readiness.
Real-World Experience: Engage in medical decision-making, treatment planning, and collaborative rounds with experienced DVMs.
Communication Development: Practice client conversations and work alongside our supportive veterinary team.
📅 Externship Overview:
Length: minimum 2 weeks, up to 4 weeks (flexible depending on your academic schedule)
Stipend: $2,500 travel/living expense stipend for clinical year students
Who Can Apply: 3rd and 4th year veterinary students currently enrolled in a DVM program
