Piping Material Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, select, and apply standard material engineering methods, techniques, specifications, and procedures using independent judgment.
• Participate in the design and development of processes for the manufacture and utilization of metallic, plastic, composite, and other materials in construction and hardware production.
• Analyze materials to determine mechanical and physical properties.
• Review operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results.
• Prepare material selection diagrams and materials corrosion engineering reports for clients.
• Prepare or assist in conceptual studies, designs, reports, and proposals.
• Coordinate material engineering efforts with specialty groups, clients, vendors, contractors, and project teams.
• Provide technical support to material specialists, project disciplines, customers, and regulatory personnel.
• Assist project and construction management in identifying and complying with project material requirements.
• Address materials issues during project execution.
• Review and check work performed by other MET specialists.

Skills:

• Strong understanding of Engineering Department Procedures and Client design guides.
• Broad knowledge of engineering applications to plant constructability and construction materials.
• Expertise in Piping Material Specification software (e.g., Smart Plant Reference Data SRD).
• Extensive experience with ASME, API, AWWA, ASTM, and MSS codes.
• Experience developing and maintaining BIM piping FabParts (LOD 100–500).
• Knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering principles and relevant computer applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel or relocate as required.
• Preferred experience in semiconductor fabs or data centers.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 5–10 years of relevant experience, or 9–14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
