Pharmacy Technician
JOB TITLE: Pharmacy Technician EMPLOYER: The Woodlands Specialty Hospital DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy REPORTS TO: Pharmacist

SUMMARY: Under supervision of a Pharmacy Director/remote Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will perform technical and clerical duties associated with the distribution of medications throughout the hospital. In addition, the Pharmacy Technician will be assigned tasks regarding pharmacy quality control, management of pharmacy records, and inventory control.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Place orders for medications
- Receive medication orders
- Prepare purchase orders/invoices
- Process invoices for Pharmacist Signature
- Participate in Inventory Control
- Assist in Formulary Maintenance
- Update Electronic Health Record Database as needed
- Update Charge Master as needed
- Daily restock of Automated Dispensing Cabinets
- Reconcile medications administered in all departments to be checked by Pharmacist
- Assist Pharmacist/remote Pharmacist by gathering orders from nursing to be scanned for verification
- Assist in maintenance of automated dispensing cabinet accessibility
- Assist in training Nursing and Anesthesia in proper use of automated dispensing cabinets
- Pull expired drugs and prepares for return to reverse distributor
- Check crash carts on a routine basis
- Assist in supervising proper storage of drugs throughout hospital
- Issue medications to department cabinets from the central pharmacy
- Check daily billing reports for discrepancies and proper billing
- Regularly check FDA web site for drug shortages or recalls and reports to Pharmacist
- Clean Pharmacy as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* This job has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certification by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board as well as Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Maintain record of CE requirements
- Must have computer use knowledge
- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Prefer a minimum of 1 year Hospital Pharmacy experience
- Prefer Omicell experience
