Lifeguard - Seasonal
- SEASONAL: MAY TO SEPTEMBER 2026** The City of Mont Belvieu, Texas is currently accepting applications for seasonal Lifeguard in the Parks & Recreation Department. The City of Mont Belvieu is a growing community located on IH-10 east of Houston, Texas in Chambers County. Position Summary Lifeguards at Eagle Pointe Recreation Complex are a valuable resource and key component to ensuring our guests enjoy a fun and safe experience when visiting. Our Lifeguard staff is responsible for the safety and well-being of patrons, by maintaining constant surveillance of patrons in the facility. They must be able to act immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of emergency. They also perform various maintenance duties as directed, as well as routine cleaning and decontamination to ensure we maintain a clean and safe facility. Staff is expected to maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times, along with providing a high standard of customer service. This position is seasonal. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSiBILITIES
- Reports directly to Head Lifeguard.
- Responsible for maintaining high safety standards at all time.
- Enforces established facility rules, regulations and policies.
- Performs rescues, victim extractions, first-aid and CPR, as required.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Performs janitorial and maintenance duties as directed.
- Prepare aquatic facility for user groups, rentals and programs in a timely fashion.
- Welcome, encourage and communicate effectively with staff and patrons.
- Prepare required reports accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Able to guard in Wave Pool and Lap Pool environments.
- Effectively provide swim lesson instruction.
- Maintain certifications
- Be knowledgeable on other programs throughout the facility, specifically those being offered in Aquatics.
- Attend all required meeting and events including but not limited to; Special Events, In-Services, Community Events, etc.
- Identify, address and enforce lack of adherence to facility rules & policies.
- Diffuse conflicts and report inappropriate behavior or refusal to follow guidelines to Aquatics Specialist.
- Performs any and all other related duties or assignments as assigned.
- Lifeguard Certification preferred; on the job training is available
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.
- Successful candidates must pass pre-employment drug screen, job related physical and background check.
- Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to the area of responsibility.
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with members of the public and co-workers.
- Ability to maintain and follow proper purchasing policies.
- Good Customer Service Skills

- Thorough knowledge of hazards, safety rules, and regulations applicable to area of responsibility.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
