Job Title: Sewing Technician

Job Description

This role requires expertise in operating various industrial sewing machines including Straight Stitch (single and double needle), Walking Foot, Bartack, Buttonhole, and 3 the person Rolled Hem Serger. The candidate will undergo safety and operational training and must perform duties in line with established flight and training process procedures. Proficiency in reading and interpreting soft-goods fabrication and assembly drawings is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Sew materials by hand or using a sewing machine to join, gather, reinforce, or decorate materials or fabricated articles.
  • Cut materials according to specifications, or trim excess material or thread from finished products using blades, scissors, or an electric knife.
  • Examine and measure finished articles to ensure they meet standards.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect issues such as defective stitching or machine malfunctions.
  • Mount attachments like needles and adjust machine guides as per specifications.
  • Place spools of thread, cord, or other materials on spindles, and thread ends through machine guides and components.
  • Position and mark patterns on materials in preparation for sewing.
  • Manage materials through feed rollers and guides, or maneuver them under sewing machine presser foot and needle during operation.
  • Remove finished materials from the sewing machine and replace needles as necessary.
  • Clean and oil sewing machines to maintain equipment.
  • Record the amount of materials processed in production logs.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of product fabrication according to instructions and/or drawings.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in the use of Straight Stitch, Walking Foot, Bartack, Buttonhole, and 3 the person Rolled Hem Serger sewing machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret soft-goods fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Expertise in the fabrication of soft-goods patterns.
  • Skilled in sewing materials by hand or using a sewing machine to tight tolerances.
  • Ability to cut materials accurately using blades, scissors, or an electric knife.
  • Experience in monitoring machine operations for quality control.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industrial sewing experience.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Experience working with tight deadlines and project schedules.
  • Background in aerospace, theater, alterations, or clothing industries is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.54 - $34.01/hr.
