Houston Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Houston, TX 77054 (Texas Medical Center area)
• Healthcare Setting: Labor & Delivery Unit (35 beds, 3rd Floor Main Hospital)
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/1/2025 – End: 12/1/2025)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7p-7a)
• Dress Code: Royal Blue Scrubs
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1950-$2000

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
• Preferred: Experience with OR Circulation for Cesarean Sections, Placement of FSE and IUPC

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum phases
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using advanced clinical equipment (Hill-Rom birthing beds, Alaris IV pumps, GE core metrics FM, Panda warmers, CADD Solis epidural pumps, NOVI wireless FM)
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, and PACU recovery
• Perform antepartum care and testing, including continuous electronic fetal monitoring
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including anesthesia, neonatal, laborist, and hospitalist services
• Follow unit protocols for Pitocin, cervical ripening, magnesium sulfate, hydralazine, and labetalol administration
