Oil & Gas Title Opinion Attorney

Houston, TX | Full-Time or Part-Time

Our growing energy practice is seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Title Opinion Attorney to join our Houston office. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney seeking a partnership track, as well as an experienced lateral staff attorney interested in either a full-time or part-time role.

You will work on sophisticated upstream oil and gas matters, including title examination, title opinions, mineral acquisitions, leasing, and energy transactions, while collaborating with a team that values expertise, client service, and professional growth.

What You'll Do

• Prepare oil and gas title opinions and conduct mineral title examinations
• Advise clients on upstream oil and gas matters, including leasing, acquisitions, and due diligence projects
• Draft and negotiate energy-related agreements, including joint operating agreements, farmouts, purchase and sale agreements, and conveyance documents
• Assist with title curative matters and transactional documentation
• Support carbon capture and sequestration (CCUS) projects, including related agreements and regulatory compliance
• Work directly with clients, landmen, in-house counsel, and regulatory agencies

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in oil and gas, mineral title, energy transactions, property law, or related practice areas
• Experience drafting Texas oil and gas title opinions preferred
• Strong knowledge of Texas mineral law preferred
• Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas
