Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) Case Manager Location Abilene, TX : It's a great feeling to work for a company that does so much good for others around the world! Education: BA in Social Sciences Field, Education may be substituted by experience in the field. Experience: The Case Manager shall have experience working with adolescent youth who have been potentially abused and neglected. Experience in event coordination, and public speaking is important. Experience in case-management and community building is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills, good organizational ability and problem solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality with clients and staff. Basic knowledge in general computer skills including word processing, marketing software (Publisher) and database management. Major Responsibilities:
  • Provides initial intake to youth seeking services when needed.
  • Notifies Program Lead concerning any issues or problems involving youth or case-managers.
  • Case-manages minors who are 15-21 depending on the program they are assigned to.
  • Creates meeting notices, flyers, and brochures for events/services.
  • Maintains files; organizes and files paperwork and documentation.
  • Makes sure all files and paperwork meet DFPS requirement and guidelines Inputs all required data into computer database.
  • Attends weekly all staff meetings Provide general education regarding necessary skills needed to be successful as they transition from being minors into young adults.
  • Communicates regularly with Program Lead on work schedule and status of monthly events.
  • Receives approval for all purchases from Regional Director.
  • Turns in receipts, case-notes, expense reports, and other required documentations for budget and billing on time.
  • Completes and delivers all required reports by the agency and contractor to the Program Lead in a timely manner.
  • Works as a team player
  • Performs all duties as assigned
  • Supports other Transition Services as needed.
  • Complies with all policies/procedures of the agency.
  • Other job duties as assigned
  • Requirements:
    • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
    • Exercises patience, initiative and confidentiality.
    • Ability to use up to 40 pounds of force on occasion and /or a small amount of force frequently including carry, lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with other employees, staff and the public.
    • May exceed 40 hours, including weekends and some nights.
    • Must be able to develop and maintain rapport with youth and families.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality with clients and staff.
    • Works as a team player.
    • Report suspected child abuse/neglect to administrator and law enforcement agency.
    • Abide by all BCFS policies and procedures.
    • Valid Texas Driver's license with a clear driving record. Must pass background check.
    • Communicates regularly with Program Lead on status of program. Maintain an on-call cell phone.
    • Other job duties as assigned.
