Who we're looking for


Toyota’s Enterprise Platform team is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Senior Principal Software Engineer - Java to drive innovation and deliver impactful technology solutions. In this role, you will lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native platforms that empower our business initiatives. Reporting to the engineering leadership, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our technology landscape while fostering a culture of engineering excellence and collaboration.

What you'll be doing


As a Senior Principal Software Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of solving complex technical challenges alongside a talented team of engineers, machine learning experts, and product managers. Your typical day will involve hands-on technical leadership, create reusable frameworks, and drive long-term technology roadmaps that optimize business outcomes. Success means delivering high-quality, scalable solutions while mentoring others and promoting innovation across the organization.

  • Lead and evangelize a bold technical vision for shared services and platform solutions that impact the entire enterprise.

  • Break down complex problems into practical, operational software solutions that drive business value.

  • Ensure the highest standards of technical design, performance, scalability, and operability.

  • Serve as a trusted expert and mentor, strengthening the skills and knowledge of engineering and product teams.

  • Explore and apply emerging technologies such as cloud computing and Generative AI to accelerate innovation.

  • Collaborate with technology leaders to shape and execute enterprise-wide tech strategies.

  • Develop reusable software patterns and frameworks to support new business initiatives.

  • Promote best practices in cloud strategy, security, and software development lifecycle (SDLC).

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field that provides a strong technical foundation.

  • 15+ years of hands-on software development experience delivering scalable, cloud-native applications.

  • Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, NodeJS, ReactJS, REST APIs, real-time streaming, and microservices architecture.

  • Proven ability to build solutions addressing logging, testing, security, instrumentation, and scalability using Java, Python, SQL, and AWS services.

  • Practical knowledge of advanced software design patterns, CI/CD pipelines, and GenAI-powered development processes.

Added bonus if you have

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services and leveraging Generative AI capabilities in software development.

  • Proven track record architecting large-scale, mission-critical cloud-native applications, especially in regulated industries.

  • Experience deploying clustered web services and working with event-driven, microservice architectures.

  • Background in building horizontal platforms or enterprise-wide shared services.
