Associate Attorney
An Immigration Associate Attorney is a legal professional specializing in immigration law. They provide comprehensive legal services to individuals and families navigating the complex immigration system. Working closely with clients, government agencies, and other legal professionals, Immigration Associate Attorneys play a pivotal role in assisting clients with visa applications, residency petitions, citizenship matters, deportation defense, and other immigration-related issues. Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients and senior associates and other staff to move cases toward resolution efficiently
- Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action
- Draft documents such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts to be used proceedings and contract negotiations
- Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys
- Organize and maintain files to ensure accuracy for other attorneys, paralegals, and staff
- Client Consultation: Meet with clients to assess their immigration needs, gather information about their cases, and identify a pathway.
- Court Representation: Represent clients in immigration court proceedings, asylum hearings, and deportation defense cases if required.
- Interview Preparation: Prepare clients for interviews with immigration officials or officers, ensuring they are well-informed and confident during these interactions.
- Billing and Timekeeping: Keep accurate records of billable hours and provide clients with transparent billing statements.
- Ethical Conduct: Adhere to the American Bar Association's rules of professional conduct and maintain the highest ethical standards in all client interactions.
- Applicants must have successfully passed the state bar exam
- Exceptional communication skills and problem-solving skills needed in order to work with all levels of staff and our clients
- Active member of the American Bar Association (ABA)
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school
- Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow our client base
- Minimum of 3 years of in-depth experience in family-based petitions, humanitarian, and/or removal defense.
- Possess a valid license to practice law in the state(s) of operations.
