HVAC Technician

LOCATION: New Braunfels, TX (Field Service at Client Sites)

CONTEXT: Do you have experience working with service companies in the heating and cooling industry? Our client, a leading provider of drilling services, is seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Technician to join their team. The tech will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems on drilling rigs and related equipment at remote locations.

This role will face challenging weather conditions and demanding schedules, requiring expertise in HVAC systems, mechanical troubleshooting, and a strong safety focus to ensure optimal functionality and crew comfort on the drilling site.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install, replace, and maintain HVAC units on drilling rigs, mud pits, and other support structures.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks on HVAC systems to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.
• Inspect and test HVAC components, including coils, compressors, fans, and ductwork for proper operation.
• Clean and adjust HVAC systems to optimize performance and air quality.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system malfunctions, including electrical and mechanical issues.
• Repair or replace faulty HVAC components, such as filters, belts, bearings, and thermostats.
• Identify and address potential safety hazards related to HVAC systems.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding refrigerant handling and disposal.
• Monitor and adjust HVAC systems to maintain energy efficiency on the drilling site.
• Work in remote locations, often on drilling rigs, and adapt to challenging weather conditions.
• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working on the drilling site.
• Collaborate with drilling crew members to identify and address HVAC concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2 years of commercial or industrial experience as an HVAC technician with a strong understanding of HVAC systems.
• Prefer candidates with experience servicing large-scale, heavy industrial cooling systems.
• Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and ability to adapt to unique drilling rig configurations.
• Previous experience handling heat transfer fluid (HTF).
• Ability to diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot complex systems, and perform repairs effectively.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to assess system performance.
• Commitment to safety protocols and procedures in a demanding work environment.
• Understanding of confined space entry procedures and safety regulations.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift heavy equipment.
• Willingness to work extended hours and on-call shifts as needed.
